Summer Of Love Styled Photo Shoot...

Well on this cold and snowy day in March!!! I thought I would finally get round to sharing with you an amazing styled photo shoot i was involved in 2012...

  Summer Of Love

This shoot was organised by Luxe Bridal who supplied the beautiful dresswear worn by the models on the day

The inspiration was the late ‘60s/early 70s  vintage hippy feel. Louise Holgate, the fabulous photographer who captured the shoot used natural light whilst capturing a summer feel to the shoot

It had rained every day leading up to the shoot, but from these fantastic snaps you can see we were lucky to enjoy some sunshine!

The talented Sarah Russell of SGR Vintage Hair and Make Up was also part of the team that made this shoot so beautiful..

and it was a pleasure to be asked to create the flowers for this amazing shoot. Makes m smile everytime i have a peek!

Flowers i used to create the designs include Million Stars Gypsophila, Sweet Avalanche Roses, White September Flower, Scabious, Memory Lane Roses and Antirrhinum in subtle shades of creams, pale pinks and lilacs, tied together with natural raffia, to create a hair circlet and comb, bridal bouquet and groom’s buttonhole

Summer of Love was captured in June 2012. We had to keep the shoot under lock and key and Louise and Shelley did not let us see until finally in September 2012, the shoot was featured in Boho Weddings Blog and it was well worth waiting for...

Then a few days later i recieved a message from the Summer of Love team saying that the shoot was being featured in Unique Bride Magazine! Front Cover and Four page feature i was over the moon for everyone! I cannot wait to see what we come up this year in our next photo shoot..
Although i love every picture, my favourite picture from the shoot is this one...

I love the beauty of this picture with the bride peering over the natural bouquet of flowers! I use this image on all our business posters and leaflets but it seems this picture is also loved by many more people as we made the front cover of Bridal Suite Magazine Issue too!

So this styled shoot has been a winner in more than one way and it was an absoloute pleasure to be invited to be part of this special shoot!

I hope this has made you smile as much as it make me smile!!!

Who You Ordering a Buttonhole for?...

Wedding Season is truly underway at Fusion Flowers Birmingham...

Along with delivering beautiful wedding flowers to early brides in 2013 we have been meeting new brides for the rest of 2013, brides with weddings planned for 2014 and even been talking to brides who are getting married in 2015!!!

At our wedding consultations, I take on board everything and every specific requirement that our excited brides-to-be say and answer many questions and advise as much as i can. The main question i keep getting asked is who do i buy buttonholes and corsages for?

So here is my guide and advice on buttonholes and corsages...

Grooms Buttonhole and Mums Wrist Corsage

    Where to begin?...

So lets break it down and write and list...

Lets start with the main Bridal Party-

    Groom
    Best Man
    Ushers
    Dads
    Grandads
    Page Boy
    Moms
    Nans

    Grooms Buttonhole
    Groom and Dads Buttonhole

I think its important for the buttonholes to represent and show the bridal party accordingly. Here is how i would recommend buttonholes and show the bridal party of men, through flowers using the very popular Roses...

    Grooms Buttonhole...

Choose something to reflect the bridal design. For example you are having a design consisting of Big headed White Avalanche Rose, Beargrass Loops and Diamante Crystal (very elegant!) so i would suggest your groom to have a double rose buttonhole, Beargrass loops and diamante crystal with silver wire binding the stem. Add something a little different like folded skeleton leaves, medalino sticks, pussy willow, twig, twisted wire or berry. The grooms buttonhole is as important as the bridal design!

    Cymbidium Orchid Buttonhole

    Best Man...

Always good to use the same flower throughout all your buttonholes, so for your best man i would suggest a single rose, with beargrass loops, silver wire binding the stem but leave out the diamante as that touch of bling represents the bride and groom!

Ushers, Dads, Grandads and Page Boys...

Ushers, Dads, Grandads and Pageboys are still very important members of the Bridal Party. Including your bridal flower, in this case the beautiful Avalanche Rose, includes them in your party too. By presenting them with a simple Rose buttonhole with silver wire binding the stem, a small touch of ivy leaf or dark green soft ruscus leaf, but leaving out the beargrass loops and diamante, you are still showing importance but also showing the bridal party structure. This design can be used for all Ushers, Dads and Grandads buttonholes. Using a smaller rose in the same shade of your design but on a safety pin badge brings in your page boys buttonhole, not only making them feel part of the bridal party but also matching your theme and making sure they are safe using a safety pin.

    Mom and Nans Corsage...

Moms and Nans are so important to our bridal party and we need to make sure that their corsages not only match the bridal party but their outfits too! Keeping within the cream shades is always a good idea. Not only will this match your colour scheme, but match their outfits too!!!! Use smaller Spray Roses in their Corsage, or even a double or triple rose corsage using more foliage's so its different to your grooms buttonhole too!

    Spray Rose Corsage

Alternatively, a wrist corsage can look so elegant and a nice keepsake of the wedding. Using Ivory or white pearls, diamante crystal or a colour to match your theme!...

    Pearl Band

After the Bridal Party, then come the guests!

I always advise my brides-to-be to be careful when ordering for the bridal guest party. Of course we can supply you with hundreds of carnation buttonholes but nobody knows your guests better than you. Ive been to weddings where guests haven't used the buttonholes and i have personally stood with baskets full of buttonholes still at the end of the ceremony. I'll always advise you to think ahead and maybe use your budget more wisely, if you are sure all your guests will wear them they do look fabulous on photographs! then go order for all but then be careful of the wedding politics! its difficult when you buy for one and not another! At Fusion Flowers Birmingham we do discount on big buys on buttonholes to help save and help you with your budget.

Carnation Buttonholes ideal for your guests!

I hope this post has helped you understand buttonholes a little more! For a free no obligation consultation then please contact me, Kris Henderson, at Fusion Flowers Birmingham and ill be happy to advice and assist you as much as i can...
